Men's Rowing Downs Dowling in Dual Race on Lake Moraine

HAMILTON, N.Y. (4/7/07) – The Colgate University men’s rowing team hosted Dowling College in a dual race on Saturday, April 7 on Lake Moraine.

Amidst icy waters the temperatures crested at 32 degrees and dipped as low as 17 in Central New York.  Colgate used the conditions to its advantage, winning both the Varsity 8 and the Varsity 4 events.

In the Varsity 8, the Raiders A boat cruised to a healthy finish of 4:34, over two minutes ahead of the Lions who clocked in at 4:41.  Colgate’s B boat came in three seconds behind at 4:44.

Both of Colgate’s boats finished ahead of Dowling in the Varsity 4.  The A boat crossed the line at 4:57, two seconds ahead of the B boat.  The Lions followed up with a 5:00-finish.

The Raiders will race at the Knecht Cup on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J., on April 14-15.  Over 50 institutions are expected to compete in the regatta.
