ITHACA, N.Y. (3/6/07) – The Colgate University men’s tennis team lost a 6-1 match with regional foe Cornell University on Tuesday, March 6 at the Reis Tennis Center.
The Big Red, which are riding a six-match win streak, earned the doubles point by winning two matches and took five of the six singles matches.
Junior
Tyler Deck (Newport Beach, Calif.) earn the Raiders’ lone point, has he defeated Kyle Doppelt in three sets at No. 4 singles. Doppelt took the first set 6-3 before Deck fought back to win the second in a battle that ended 7-6 (5). In the superset Deck was victorious, winning 10-6.
Seniors
Chris Innes (Southport, Conn.) and
Marshall Wheeler (Darien, Conn.) won at No. 1 doubles, dispatching Dan Brous and Rory Heggie, 8-3.
Colgate (2-7) will face three opponents during spring break in Hilton Head, S.C. The Raiders will take on Coastal Carolina, Denison and Kutztown. The first match is Sunday, March 11 at 4 p.m., against the Chanticleers.
