Ithaca, N.Y. (3/24/07) – The Colgate University men’s crew team raced Ithaca College on Saturday, March 24 to open up the spring season.

 

The Bombers won the varsity eight race clocking in with a time of 5:57.04, while the Raiders came in at 6:04.31.  Racing in the varsity eight were Chris Monterosso (cox), Peter Engebretson, Andrew Hatzenbuhler, Kurt Miller, Mark Robson, Bryan Pape, Tom Leonard, Eddie Gastel and Austin Sigety.

 

Colgate bounced back to win the second varsity eight, finishing with a time of 6:18.6.  Rowing in the varsity eight were Mary Dekar (cox), Brad Ernst, Isaac Goodling, Will Fox, Parker Paulin, Matt Green, Oliver Jensen, Antonio Perez and Peter Leaher.  Ithaca raced two boats that finished at 6:22.01 and 6:45.5

 

The varsity four blew past the competition as Colgate’s two boats came in at 6:40.31 and 6:42.02. Ithaca followed up at 7:07.09.  In Colgate’s A boat were Engebretson, Hatzenbuhler, Ernst, Sigety and Dekar (cox), while Miller, Gastel, Pape, Leonard and Monterosso (cox) made up the Colgate A boat.

 

The novice four proved they are just as powerful as their upperclassmen as the clocked in with a time of 7:12.8, with Ithaca finished at 7:43.0.  The boat consisted on Perez, Paulin, Marc Cassone, Jensen and Lauren Paverman (cox).

 

Colgate will race Syracuse University on Sunday, April 1 in Syracuse, N.Y.
