HAMILTON, N.Y. (2/10/07) – The Colgate University women’s ice hockey crushed No. 6 Harvard University, 3-1, on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Starr Rink. It’s the first time Colgate has defeated Harvard, as the Crimson entered today’s game with a 10-0-1 edge in the all-time series.
The victory couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time, as the game marked Senior Day for the Class of 2007. Senior

Ashley Bradford (Burnaby, B.C.) scored her first goal of the season in the win.
Harvard opened the scoring at 7:34 of the first with a power-play goal by Jennifer Sifers. Lindsay Weaver had the puck on the right side and pushed it ahead to Katie Johnston who was positioned on the left side of the goal. Johnston sent a backhanded pass to the opposite side of the net to Sifers who was all alone to sneak the puck between Wheeler and the pipe.
Bradford scored her first goal of the season, and seventh career goal, at 18:02 of the first to knot the game at one. Sophomore
Sam Hunt (Calgary, Alta.) had the puck on the left side of the net and saw the opportunity to slide the puck across the goalmouth to Bradford. Bradford drilled the puck the second it hit her tape for to light the lamp.
Freshman
Marissa Dombovy (Webster, N.Y.) tallied the eventual game-winning goal at 7:08 of the second when she connected with sophomore
Elin Brown (Calgary, Alta.) Dombovy wrapped around behind the net and came out in front on the left side and rifled a shot that went five hole on Harvard’s Christina Kessler.

Tara French (Truro, N.S.) had the puck near the blue line and passed it up the ice to freshman
Katie Stewart (Exeter, Ont.) and Stewart skated in on the left side and ripped the puck top shelf past Kessler at 1:07.
With 35 seconds remaining in the game, Harvard pulled Kessler in favor of the extra attacker but Colgate managed to maintain control and didn’t allow the Crimson a chance at the net.
