Belke Honored by Top Drawer Soccer

HAMILTON, N.Y. (12/4/07) – Senior defender Dan Belke (West Bloomfield, Mich.) of the Colgate University men’s soccer team was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Men’s College Teams of the Season it was announced by the Web site on Nov. 23.
 
Belke was named honorable mention, after helping to lead the Raiders to its first NCAA Tournament bid in 41 years. Colgate won the 2007 Patriot League Championship with a 1-0 shutout of Lafayette in the title game. The Raiders finished the season with a 9-6-5 overall record and a 4-1-2 mark in the league.
 
The 2007 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, Belke was named first-team all-Patriot League for the second straight season. He was named the Tournament MVP after holding opponents to just one goal during the tournament and scoring a penalty kick in a shootout in the semifinals with Bucknell.
 
A political science major, Belke was recently named ESPN The Magazine Second-Team Academic All-District.
