Sami Kozlowski (New Market, Md.) scored a season-high 18 points and seven assists, but it was not enough as the Raiders fell to Albany, 86-62, in non-conference women’s basketball action. Albany’s Janea Aiken led all scorers with 21 points for the game.

Krista Moser (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) added a season-high 13 points and pulled down nine boards, just missing the double-double. Sophomore
Katie Garman (Poplar Grove, Ill.) added 11 points for the Raiders, hitting 3-of-4 from long range and rookie
Georgia Gier (Mercer Island, Wash.) matched Moser’s nine boards.
Albany garners its first win of the season to improve to 1-2 overall. The Great Danes got 19 points from Kristin Higy and 15 points from Britney McGee. Higy led the charge on the boards with seven rebounds.
Albany raced out to an 8-0 advantage, but Colgate ran off seven straight points to make it a one-point game at 8-7. The Great Danes pulled ahead again by nine with a 7-0 run of their own before the Raiders responded with an 8-0 for their first lead of the game at 19-18. Colgate continued to pull away and got a three-pointer from Garman for its largest lead of the game at 33-24.
The Great Danes chipped away at the nine-point lead in the final two minutes and got a layup from Aiken with 11 seconds left to send the two teams into halftime knotted at 37. Colgate shot an impressive 53.8 percent in the opening 20 minutes, including hitting 50 percent of its shots from behind the arc.
The Great Danes came out of the break and hit a three-pointer on their third possession for a 40-37 lead they would never relinquish. The Raiders continued to battle, but Albany found the hot hand and started to pull away in the final 10 minutes. The Great Danes used a 17-4 run over a span of nearly seven minutes for a 61-47 lead at the 8:39 mark. Albany continued to add to its lead in the final eight minutes to earn the 86-62 victory.
Colgate shot a season-high 47.2 percent from the floor and 42.9 percent from long range. Albany finished the game at 44.3 percent form the field and 34.6 percent from behind the arc. The Raiders dominated on the glass, outrebounding the Great Danes 40-27.
The Raiders take a nine-day break from games before heading to Ohio State for the Klosterman Buckeye Classic. Colgate will take on No. 16 Ohio State on Nov. 24 at 2 p.m., at St. John Arena.
