PHILADELPHIA (11/12/07) – The Colgate University men’s rowing team finished up its fall season racing at the Philadelphia Frostbite and the Bill Braxton Memorial Regatta this weekend, Nov. 10 and 11, winning seven out of eight events.
The Raiders finished first in all three events at the Frostbite, including the varsity eight, varsity four and novice eight. Colgate also claimed four of five first-place finishes at the Braxton regatta, earning gold for three separate fours, and the novice eight, while the varsity eight took second-place.

The eight blew away the competition with a winning time of 5:56.35, finished ahead of second-place Temple by over five seconds. Ithaca finished third, followed by Penn, Delaware and Lafayette. Racing in the eight was

Austin Sigety and
Mary Dekar.
The novice eight earned a time of 6:34.53, beating out Rochester, Washington, Lafayette, Binghamton and Dowling. The Raiders finished 14 seconds ahead of the second-place Yellowjackets.

Temple earned revenge the previous day’s defeat in the eight, beating out Colgate by just 11 tenths of a second. The Owls finished at 4:28.09 with the Raiders right behind at 4:28.20. Ithaca came in third at 4:37, followed by Loyola.
Colgate raced three fours in three respective finals. In the top final it was Colgate’s B earning top honors with a time of 5:02.80. The Raiders finished in front of Ithaca A, Marietta A, Stony Brook B and American A. The boat was led by coxswain O’Leary, and featured Pape, Goodling, Herling and Kobayashi.
Colgate’s C was the first boat across the line in the B Final, with a time of 5:03.98. NY Maritime, Loyola, Ithaca B, Scranton A and American B. The boat was led by coxswain Stonehill, as well as Cassone, Jensen, Paulin and Leahey.
In the C Final, Colgate’s A captured first place with a time of 4:59.06. Temple came in at 5:07.39, followed by Marietta B, Stony Brook A, Greenwich and Penn State. Pacing the boat was coxswain Dekar and Engebretson, Hatzenbuhler, Robson and Sigety.
The men’s novice 8 captured a first-place time of 5:57.34, finishing 14 seconds ahead of Ithaca. Drexel and Penn State claimed third and fourth. Racing the eight for the Raiders was O’Leary, Vogelsang, Kobayaski,

Sam Worth, Ted Meeks, Peter Radzikowski and Andrew Browning.
Colgate will take a break and return to the water on April 12, 2008 at the Knecht Cup.
