Battle of the Unbeatens Set for Sunday

Colgate hosts Bucknell on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m.
HAMILTON, N.Y. (10/19/07) – The Colgate University men’s soccer team hosts Bucknell in a Patriot League match-up on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m., during Family Weekend.

The Raiders lead the Bison, 20-7-4, in the all-time series and are undefeated in the last three meetings. Last season the teams played to a 1-1 tie in Lewisburg, Pa.
 
Colgate has a 6-4-2 overall record and is coming off a 2-0 loss to Binghamton on Tuesday, Oct. 14. The Raiders are unbeaten in the league with a 2-0-1 record to sit in first place in the standings along with Bucknell and American with matching records. Leading the Raiders in the attacking third is senior Eric Anton (Tacoma, Wash.) who has seven points off of three goals and one assist. Freshman Steven Miller (Ivyland, Pa.) has two goals and one assist for five points and eight other Raiders have at least one point. Junior goalkeeper David Cappuccio (Pittsford, N.Y.) has a 6-3-2 record with five shutouts and has started in all but one game. He sports a 0.80 goals against average and an. 845 save percentage. Classmate Matt Barton (San Mateo, Calif.) got the starting nod in the last Raider game. He has a 1.38 GAA and a .778 save percentage.
 
Bucknell enters the game with a 5-3-4 overall record and is unbeaten in its last seven games. The last time the Bison dropped a game was on Sept. 15, going 5-2 since that date. Pacing the Bison offensively is senior Justin Wolf with four goals and two assists for 10 points. Senior Corey Curnette and junior Mark Schmiegel each have eight points off of three goals and two assists and sophomore Conor O’Brien has a team-high three assists to go along with two goals for seven points. Senior goalkeeper Joey Kuterbach has been in net for all 12 of Bucknell’s games. He sports a 5-2-4 record, with five shutouts, a 0.73 GAA and an .816 save percentage. Sophomore Will Byrne has also seen action and is 0-1 with a 1.82 GAA and a .667 save percentage.
