Binghamton Upends Colgate 2-0 in Men's Soccer

VESTAL, N.Y. (10/16/07) –  Binghamton University men’s soccer player Matt Narode scored two first-half goals en route to a 2-0 win over Colgate University at Bearcat Sports Complex on Tuesday, Oct. 16.

Narode opened the scoring at 7:22 when he knocked in a deflected cross from Darren McAllister from the middle of the box. He scored his second goal of the game when Adam Chavez saved the ball from going out of bounds and then bicyle-kicked the ball which deflected off the Colgate goalkeeper Matt Barton (San Mateo, Calif.) and landed near Narode where he was able to get to it first and knock it past the goal line at 26:32.

The Bearcats outshot the Raiders 10-1 in the first half, and shots were even in the second at seven apiece. Colgate had a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.

Barton made four saves in his first career start, while Binghamton’s Jason Stenta made two saves.

Binghamton improves to 10-3 on the season, while Colgate falls to 6-4-2.

Colgate hosts Bucknell in a Patriot League match on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m., during Family Weekend.
