Novice 8 Earn Gold at Brock Invitational

ST. CATHERINES, Ont. (10/13/07) – The Colgate University men’s rowing team competed at the Brock Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 13. The Raiders raced their varsity 8, varsity 4 and novice 8.
 
The Varsity 8 finished second with a time of 5.47:04 behind first-place Western with a time of 5.43.09. Coming in behind Colgate were Queens, Brock, Western B and Toronto. In the silver-medal boat were Mary Dekar, Peter Engebretson, Andrew Hatzenbuhler, Bryan Pape, Mark Robson, Doug Herling, Isaac Goodling, Marc Cassone and Austin Sigety.
 
The Novice 8 captured the gold medal with a winning time of 6.32.54, finishing ahead of Trent, Western and Ryerson. Making up the Novice 8 were Katie O’Leary, Paul Vogelsand, Adam Kobayashi, Peter Radzikowski, Sam Walker, Sam Worth, Nick Evans, AJ Browning and Ted Meeks.
 
The Raiders raced two boats in the Varsity 4, and they claimed third and fifth place. The first boat of Dekar, Engebreston, Hatzenbuhler, Goodling and Pape came in third with a time of 6.16.23. The second boat of Kristen Stonehill, Cassone, Oliver Jensen, Parker Paulin and Peter Leahey placed fifth with a time of 6.34.14. Coming in first was Western, followed by Queens in second, Brock came in fourth and McGill took sixth.
 
Colgate will race at the Head of the Fish on Oct. 27.
