EASTON, Pa. (1/19/07) – Sophomore
Lisa Marchi (Scottsdale, Ariz.) earned three individual wins and contributed to a winning relay to lead the Colgate women’s swimming and diving team to a 161-137 win at Lafayette on Friday, Jan. 19.
Marchi started the afternoon by winning the 200 free in a time of 1:54.38. She added wins in the 100 (53.56) and 500 free (5:12.22). Classmate
Ashley Bottger (Weston, Conn.) placed second in the 100 free, just 0.15 seconds behind Marchi. Senior
Keriann Fitzsimons (Red Hook, N.Y.) was third in the 500 with a time of 5:14.63.
Marchi also swam the lead-off leg of the 200 free relay that turned in the eighth-fastest time in school history, 1:38.03, to capture first place. Bottger, who anchored the relay, touched the wall just 0.05 seconds before Lafayette’s Liz Geary to earn the win.
The Raider divers swept the top three spots in both events. Senior
Gretchen Swarr (Southport, Conn.) won both boards, posting a score of 218.93 on the one-meter and scoring 216.68 on the three-meter. Sophomore
Lexie King (Apple Valley, Minn.) was second in both events, and senior
Sara Dyer (Milton, Mass.) finished third on both boards.
Freshman
Caitlin Curran (Alpharetta, Ga.) won the 200 breast and finished second in the 100 breast, posting times of 2:29.34 and 1:09.58. Classmate
Alaina Sullivan (Shaker Heights, Ohio) was right behind her in the 100 to take third, finishing in 1:09.84, and she was second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:31.33.
Junior
Colby Seamans (Naperville, Ill.) posted a winning time of 4:40.57 in the 400 IM. Curran was the runner-up, finishing in 4:48.21. Seamans swam the 200 back in 2:11.74 to take second place.
Kate Murphy earned second-place points in the 100 fly with a time of 59.45.
Freshman
Karen Baker (Houston, Texas) earned a second-place finish in the 1000 free with a time of 10:48.31. Classmate
Kate Murphy (Williamsburg, Va.) came in second in the 200 fly, clocking in at 2:13.79. Senior co-captain
Leslie Petsoff (Glen Ridge, N.J.) was third in the 200 fly in a time of 2:17.09.
The Raiders finished second in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:07.27. Head coach

Colgate continues competition on Saturday, Jan. 20, at nearby Cornell. The diving competition begins at 11:00 a.m., while the swimming events commence at 2:00 p.m.
