Bucknell Tops Colgate in Women's Soccer, 2-1

Arnault scored Colgate's lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. (9/30/06) – Shannon Curd had a goal and an assist to lead Bucknell to a 2-1 win over Colgate in Patriot League women’s soccer on Saturday, Sept. 30 at Varsity Soccer Field.

At 83:07 in the contest, Bucknell was awarded a free kick just outside the top of the box, following a yellow card to senior Kellen Kroll (Chatham, N.J.).  Curd blasted the ball over the Raider defense and past junior Carly Sousa (Darien, Conn.) in net for the game-winning goal.

Bucknell got on the scoreboard first with the held of Curd.  She lofted a corner kick to the top of the box where Renee Bernardo put a foot on the ball and sent a high shot over the head of Sousa at 29:46.

Colgate’s Jillian Arnault (Clay, N.Y.) evened the scoring at 75:43 when she poked in a pass from Franny Iacuzzi (Evanston, Ill.) amidst a scramble in front of the Bison goal.

Bucknell outshot Colgate 9-7 in the contest, and had the advantage in corner kicks, 8-7.

Sousa made three stops in net, while Bucknell’s Katie Dry made two saves.

The win snapped Colgate's four-game win streak over Bucknell in the all-time series, in which the Raiders lead 15-3.

The Raiders are now 8-3 on the season and 0-1 in the Patriot League, while Bison improved to 6-3-1 overall and 1-0 in the league.
