DES MOINES, IOWA (8/2/06) – Colgate men’s soccer player
Glenn Volk (Lexington, Ky.) and the Javanon SC (Kentucky) were crowned the 2006 Youth Soccer National Champions on July 30.
Javanon SC won the U19 Boys National Championship with a 3-2 win over Arsenal FC (Southern California) and were honored with the James P. McGuire Cup, the oldest youth trophy that dates back to 1935.
A total of 48 teams in the country met at James W. Cownie Soccer Park in Des Moines, Iowa to conclude the final portion of the national championship series. After the week’s three preliminary rounds, Javanon and Arsenal came out on top to play for the championship cup.
The 2006 US Youth Soccer National Championship Series is the country’s most prestigious national youth soccer tournament, providing over 185,000 players on more than 10,000 teams from US Youth Soccer’s 55 state associations the opportunity to showcase their soccer skills against the best competition in the nation while emphasizing teamwork, discipline and fair play.

The two-hour show will highlight the national championships providing feature stories, interviews, game highlights and much, much more.
