HAMILTON, N.Y. (5/1/2006)—The Colgate University men’s lacrosse team dropped to 20th in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll following its 10-8 loss to current No. 16 Army in the Patriot League Semifinal. The Raiders are receiving votes in the USILA Coaches’ poll and LaxPower Forum Poll. University of Virginia tops all three polls with an unblemished 13-0 record.
The Raiders (11-3) suffered just their third loss of the season, a 10-8 setback, in the Patriot League semifinals on Friday, April 28. The Black Knights fell to two-time defending champion Navy 8-5 in the title tilt two days later.
Sophomore attacker
Matt Lalli (Princeton Junction, N.J.) paces the Colgate attack with a team-best 23 goals and 17 assists for 40 points. Junior
Brendan Hurley (West Islip, N.Y.) is right on his heels with 17 goals and a team-high 20 assists for 37 points.
Seniors
Robert Trasolini (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) and
Brian Robinson (Denver, Colo.) both have contributed 22 goals on the season, their best season totals in their four-year careers.
Junior
Chris Eck (Fairfield, Conn.) sports a .617 win percentage at the faceoff “X” with a 174-108 record. He also leads the team with 81 groundballs.
Senior
Andrew Jarolimek (Silverthorne, Colo.) is 11-3 between the pipes with a 7.74 goals against average and a .547 save percentage for the season.
Colgate closes out its regular season on Saturday, May 6, hosting eighth-ranked Syracuse at Andy Kerr Stadium. Faceoff is set for 1 p.m., as the cross-town rivals meet for the 50th time overall and for the first time since 2001.
