VESTAL, N.Y. (4/11/2006)—Colgate University freshman Brandon Corp (Chittenango, N.Y.) scored a goal with seven seconds remaining to lift the Raiders to an 8-7 come-from-behind victory over Binghamton in non-conference men’s lacrosse action this afternoon. The 20th-ranked Raiders scored six of the game’s final seven goals to improve to 9-2 overall. The Bearcats fall to 6-4 for the season.

Junior Brendan Hurley (West Islip, N.Y.) and Corp both finished with two goals and an assist for a team-best three points. Corp and Hurley led the charge in the final frame, combining for three goals and two assists in the fourth-quarter. Binghamton’s Jake Boyce led all scorers with five goals.

Trailing by four with just over 20 minutes remaining in the game, the Raider offense caught fire. Lalli sparked the 6-1 run with 6:10 left in the third with his 17th goal of the year. Senior Brian Robinson (Denver, Colo.) added his second score of the game 24 seconds later off an assist from junior Chris Eck (Fairfield, Conn.), pulling Colgate within two at 6-4.

Binghamton’s Stephen Smith gave the Bearcats a three-goal edge again, 7-4, with a tally at the end of the third quarter, but Binghamton could not hold on to that lead in the final quarter.

Hurley opened the fourth-quarter scoring at the 14:08 mark and Corp added his first goal of the game less than a minute later to make it 7-6. Senior Robert Trasolini (West Hyde Park, N.Y.) tied the contest off a Corp pass with 5:37 left on the clock, setting up the exciting finish. With seven ticks remaining Hurley found Corp for the game-winner.

Binghamton dominated the action in the early going as the Bearcats jumped out to a 4-0 lead with 12:01 left in the second quarter. Boyce tallied the first three goals of the contest and finished with a game-high five. Freshman Duncan Streeten added another score to make it 4-0, before Colgate could find the back of the net.

Hurley got the offense going for the Raiders with 9:02 left in the second frame off an assist from sophomore Matt Lalli (Princeton Junction, N.J.). Robinson connected on a Jeff Hiller (Wantagh, N.Y.) pass to make it a two-goal game, 4-2, with 7:04 left in the second stanza.

Boyce fired home his fourth goal with 2:32 remaining in the half to give the Bearcats a 5-2 advantage at the break. The rookie attacker registered his final score of the game 2:48 into the third quarter, putting Binghamton up 6-2.

Eck finished 12-of-19 from the faceoff “X” and picked up two groundballs and added an assist. The Raiders won the groundball battle 26-19 and outshot the Bearcats 31-30.

Senior goaltender Andrew Jarolimek (Silverthorne, Colo.) made 12 stops, including seven in the second half and grabbed a pair of groundballs. Kevin McKeown and Larry Kline combined to make 12 saves for Binghamton.
