WASHINGTON, D.C. (3/5/06) – The Colgate softball team wrapped up action in the Colonial Classic Sunday morning with a 4-3 win over Bucknell at George Washington University. The Raiders finished with a 2-1 record.
In the final game, the Raiders broke on top with a run in the second inning. Sophomore Whitney Scott (Beaverton, OR) walked, and pinch runner Calla Yee (Salinas, CA) was sacrificed to second, and came home on freshman Tiana Tyeskey’s (Granite Bay, CA) double.
Colgate increased its lead to 3-0 in the fifth inning when Kim Olmstead (Spring Hill, FL) and Kortney Hannah (Vacaville, CA) drilled back-to-back singles, and Scott drove both runners home with a double.
The Raiders scored their final run in the sixth inning on a RBI single by Olmstead, before Bucknell scored its first run in the bottom half of the inning. The Bison came back with a pair of runs in the seventh inning, and had runners on second and third when the final out was recorded.
Senior Kate Howard (Wheaton, IL) (1-1) went the distance for the Raiders for her first win of the season. Olmstead was 2-for-3, while Hannah was 2-for-4, and LaPorscha Albert (Lewisville, TX) was 2-for-4.
