Army Tops Colgate 6-1 in Women's Tennis

Jackie Couture picked up two wins, with victories at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles

WEST POINT, N.Y. (3/26/06) - The Colgate University women's tennis team fell, 6-1 to Army in their Patriot League season-opener at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center on Sunday, March 26.

Jackie Couture (Ridgefield, Conn.) won the lone singles match for the Raiders, knocking off Megan Noble, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.

Couture paired with Alex Seaton (Edina, Minn.) at No. 1 doubles to beat Noble/Brook Jones, 8-4.  The duo are now 10-3 on the season.

Kristin Flach topped Seaton at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-1 and Sarah Giles-Madden took No. 3 singles from Lindsay Grossman (Cohasset, Mass.), 7-5, 6-2.  Amanda Paluch won No. 4 singles for the Black Knights, 6-1, 6-3 beating Lil Vo (Midland, Texas).  Jessica Schurtz defeated Erin Fenn (Evanston, Ill.) at No. 5, winning 6-3, 6-1 and Diana Alquero finished the singles matches with 6-0, 6-1 scores at No. 6 over Cameron Thaney (Rochester, N.Y.).

Flauch/Schurtz won No. 2 doubles, 8-3 over Fenn/Grossman and Paluch/Christina Limsiaco topped Vo/Thaney at No. 3 doubles, 8-4.

The Raiders (7-6, 0-1 PL) will take a week off before traveling to Pennsylvania to take on Lafayette and Lehigh on March 8 and 9.
