Women’s Tennis Drops Two to Buffalo and Syracuse

Alex Seaton won No. 1 doubles against Buffalo on Saturday and came close in No. 2 singles, pushing it to three sets.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (2/13/06) - The Colgate women’s tennis team lost its first matches of the season this weekend, as the Raiders fell 0-7 to the University of Buffalo and 0-7 to Syracuse University.

Against Buffalo on Saturday, Alex Seaton (Edina, Minn.) and Jackie Couture (Ridgefield, Conn.) gave the Raiders its lone win, taking No. 1 doubles from Migelene Nenova and Katrin Fischer by a score of 8-3. Seaton also was close in her No. 2 singles, going three sets with Kristen Ortman. Seaton was close in the first set losing by just two, 7-5. The second set went into a tie breaker which Seaton won 7-4 to win the set, 7-6. In the super set, Ortman just slipped by Seaton, winning 10-7.

The Raiders struggled on Sunday against the Orange, losing each single and doubles competition.

The Colgate women’s tennis team, now 3-2 on the season, will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 18 when it hosts Niagara at 5 p.m.
