Kyle Chones (Cleveland, OH) scored 12 points and sophomore forward
Alex Woodhouse (Alexandria, VA) added 10 points as Colgate cruised to an 82-34 win over Elmira College Wednesday night at Cotterell Court.
Colgate, which has won three of its last four games, is 4-3 overall heading into Saturday night’s game at nationally ranked Syracuse. Elmira (1-6) drops its fifth straight game.
All 12 Colgate players who were dressed for the game reached the scoring column.
Tim Pounds (Dudley, NC) and
Daniel Waddy (Tucson, AZ) had nine points apiece, while
Marc Daniels (Aurora, IL) and
Trevaron Vinson (Grand Prairie, TX) tallied eight apiece.
The Soaring Eagles were led by KC Mendez with eight points, while David Nelson and Jon Adamson each had six points.
Colgate out-rebounded Elmira 43-31 led by Pounds with eight boards. The Raiders shot 50.7 percent from the field. It was the fourth straight game they have been over 50 percent from the floor.
Pounds and
Kendall Chones (Cleveland, OH) scored the first two baskets of the game, and after Elmira’s Matt Keating scored on a 3-pointer from the corner, Colgate took charge with a 14-0 run.
Kyle Chones had five points in the run, and freshman
Ben Jonson (Dallas, TX) contributed three points.
Colgate led 37-12 at halftime, before extending its advantage to as many as 51 in the second half.
