HAMILTON, N.Y. (12/12/06) –
Jackie Burch (Hilton, N.Y.),
Franny Iacuzzi (Evanston, Ill.), and
Jessica Bitsack (Mendham, N.J.) of the Colgate University women’s soccer team were named to soccerbuzz.com all-region teams it was announced on the Web site on Tuesday, December 12.
Iacuzzi and Burch were both named third-team all-Northeast, while Bitsack earned all-freshman Northeast honors.
A junior forward, Iacuzzi has previously earned honors from the soccer source. She was named first-team all-Northeast and all-freshman Northeast in 2004 and second-team all-Northeast in 2005. Iacuzzi led the team in scoring for the third straight year with 18 points off of a team-high seven goals and four assists. The Raiders were 9-1 when Iacuzzi was in the scoring column. She finished eighth in the Patriot League in points, tied for fifth in goals, tied for eighth in assist and was tied for third in game winners with three.
Burch a senior defender, co-captained the 2006 squad to a 13-6 record with six shutouts. In each of her four years at Colgate, the Raiders have posted 10+ win seasons. Burch was named second-team all-Patriot League in 2004, ’05, ’06 and earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District first team honors the past two years.
Bitsack, a midfielder, led all freshmen in scoring on the team and finished third with 12 points off of four goals and four assists. She started in 18 of 19 games and finished tied for sixth in the league in assists and tied for third in game-winning goals with three. Bitsack was the Patriot League Co-Rookie of the Year and earned first-team all-Patriot League honors as well as Patriot League all-tournament recognition.
