Jackie Burch (Hilton, N.Y.) has been selected to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District first team.
This is the second year Burch has earned COSIDA Academic All-District first team honors.
A senior neuroscience major, Burch is one of four defenders on the team. She has been named to the Dean’s List every semester, has never received a grade below a B+ and is a member of Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society. She is also the recipient of three academic scholarships and has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll three times.
Burch was named second team all-Patriot League in 2004, 2005 and 2006. As co-captain of the 2006 squad, Burch has helped guide the Raiders to a 12-5 record, the fourth straight year Colgate has had a 10+ win season. With a 4-3 conference mark, the Raiders qualified for their fifth consecutive trip to the Patriot League Tournament.
Burch has started in all 17 games this season, has scored one goal and has 13 shots. She’s helped procure six shutouts this season and held opponents to 23 goals, 3 shots on goal/game and 88 corner kicks.
As the No. 4 seed, Colgate will take on No. 1 seed and host Bucknell in the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 3 at 7:15 p.m. The winner will advance to the championship against the victor of the No. 2 Navy/No. 3 Lehigh semifinal.
