ITHACA, N.Y. (09/16/2005)—Colgate University freshman libero Jackie Adlam (Marin, Calif./Marin Academy) recorded a season-high 36 digs and fellow classmate Katrina Zawojski (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) posted her third career double-double with 19 kills and 13 digs. However, it was not quite enough for the Raiders as they fell to Butler University 3-1 in the opening match of the Cornell Tournament this evening. The Bulldogs improved to 4-5 with a 27-30, 30-15, 30-18, 30-25 victory.
The Raiders took the opening game from Butler 30-27 behind a match-high .179 hitting percentage. Butler bounced right back in the second game and never looked back, winning the next three games to grab the win.
Zawojski and Butler’s Susan Henri both finished with a match-high 19 kills, while Adlam, ranked 21st in the nation in digs, led the way with a match-best 36 digs. Colgate senior setter Allie Nichols (Sacramento, Calif./Sacramento) added a double-double as well with 29 assists and 11 digs.
The Raiders hit the court again on Sept. 17 in the second day of the Cornell Tournament. They will meet up with the host Big Red at 12:30 p.m., and will go up against La Salle later in the afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
