Golf Finishes Seventh At Patriot League Championship

Head coach Brad Houston was named the Co-Coach of the Year.

LEWISBURG, Pa.--The Colgate University golf team closed out the 2004-05 season on Sunday with a seventh place finish at the Patriot League Championship at Bucknell's Golf Course.

The Raiders turned in rounds of 312, 299 and 312 over the two-day event that ended early on Saturday due to severe thunderstorms. As a result, only one round was finished and 19 golfers had to complete the second round on Sunday morning.

Army was crowned the league champion for the second straight year after carding rounds of 284, 283 and 293 for a total of 860. The Black Knights were seven strokes ahead of second place Bucknell (867).

American placed third with a 878 while Navy finished fourth with a 895. Lehigh came in fifth with a score of 899 and Holy Cross finished in sixth with a score of 909. Lafayette rounded out the field with a score of 925.

Bucknell's Charlie Waddell was crowned individual champion with a three round total of 209 for one-under-par. He fired a 67 in the first round and followed that up with scores of 71s in the final two rounds. His score tied the league record.

Colgate head coach Brad Houston was named the league's Co-Coach of the Year along with Bucknell's Jim Cotner. It was the final tournament for Houston who is retiring after this season.

Colgate freshman Ricky Hayes closed out a solid first year with a share of 12th place and a score of 224 for +14. He turned in rounds of 76, 71 and 77.

J. Hlavacek tied for 16th with a score of 226 on rounds of 78, 71 and 77 for 16 over. Patrick Bauer tied for 34th with a 234 and David Greene tied for 43rd with a 245. John Sessions rounded out the Raiders with a score of 248 for 47th place.
