CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. (11/13/05) - Sophomore Colby Seamans (Naperville, Ill.) won both the 100 and 200 back and led off the victorious 200 medley relay, but Colgate could not get past Boston College who won Sunday’s dual meet, 161.5-138.5.
Seamans won the 100 back in 1:01.59 and the 200 back in 2:11.06. She finished second in the 400 IM, posting a time of 4:45.65.
“Colby did really well today,” head coach Stephen Jungbluth said. “She came through for us when we needed her.”
Freshman Lisa Marchi (Scottsdale, Ariz.) won the 1000 free in a time of 10:41.54, beating the runner-up by more than three seconds. In her next race, Marchi won the 200 free in 1:54.41. Marchi was victorious in the 500 free, earning a time of 5:15.91.
Freshman Emily Murphy (Syracuse, N.Y.) was nearly two seconds faster than the runner-up in her 100 breast victory. She touched the pad in 1:08.51. Murphy also won the 200 breast, out-swimming her opponent by more than three seconds, finishing in 2:30.45.
Senior Chrissy Zaika (Syracuse, N.Y.) finished second in the 50 free, posting a time of 24.64, and was the runner-up in the 100 fly with a time of 59.43.
Colgate started the meet by winning the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:50.70, which ranks seventh in school history. Seamans swam the first leg, followed by Murphy, Zaika and freshman Ashley Bottger (Weston, Conn.).
Senior Emily McAuliff (Springfield, Ill.) won a tight competition on the one-meter board with a score of 244.35. Her runner-up scored 241.80, while senior Jen Rodgers (Glenmont, N.Y.) was just 0.15 points behind the second-place finisher. McAuliff also won the three-meter competition with a score of 260.18, while Rodgers tied for second with 236.18 points.
Colgate gets back into the water in January when it participates in the Winter Invitational in St. Croix and Puerto Rico over the holiday break.
