Raiders Shutout Bucknell, 1-0

HAMILTON, N.Y. (10/8/05)- The Colgate University men’s soccer team defeated Bucknell University 1-0 at Van Doren Field on Saturday night. The Raiders are now 5-4-2 and 2-1 in the league, while Bucknell falls to 5-4-2 and 1-2 in the conference.

Sophomore striker Eric Anton (Tacoma, Wash.) scored the game-winning goal at 40:49, when he headed in a Devin Deane (Oswego, N.Y.) cross from 18 yards out. The two teams would battle the remaining 49:51 of the contest, with each team’s defense holding each other scoreless.

The Raiders held a 13-9 shot advantage and the advantage in corner kicks, 5-3.

Colgate’s junior goalkeeper Doug Litvack (Levittown, N.Y.) made four saves to improve his record to 5-4-2. Today’s shutout was Litvack’s fourth of the season and first in league play this year. Bucknell’s Adam Edwards got the start for the Bison and made three saves and allowed one before being replaced by Joey Kuterbach at the start of the second half. Kuterbach turned away two shots in the final 45 minutes.

The Raiders will return to action when they host Philadelphia University on Wednesday, October 12 at 4 p.m.
