Boxscore

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (10/18/05) - Senior Bryant Meckley (Hanover, Pa./Southwestern) scored the game-tying goal for the Colgate men’s soccer team in a 1-1 overtime tie to Syracuse on Tuesday night at the SU Soccer Stadium.

Meckley picked up his own rebound after picking up a loose ball in a scramble in front of the net and knocked it home with just 32 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game for the Raiders.

The Raiders entered tonight’s game ranked No. 8 in the New York region by NSCAA/adidas while Syracuse was two slots below at the No. 10 position.

After a scoreless first half, the Orange got on the board at 54:50 when Spencer Schomaker lofted a high shot over the head of Colgate’s Doug Litvack (Levittown, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran) from the left side of the box. Jim Linus was credited with the pass to Schomaker.

In the extra sessions, the Orange had two opportunities to put the ball away but Litvack, was able to thwart Syracuse’s two shots on goal.

Syracuse held the slight advantage in shots, with a 20-14 margin, while Colgate had the upper hand in corner kicks, leading the Orange, 4-1.

Litvack proved why he was selected as the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week this week, as he made a personal best 12 saves. Syracuse's Robert Cavicchia, the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week, turned away nine shots for Syracuse.

The Raiders will travel to Washington, D.C., on Saturday, Oct. 22 to take on the American Eagles at 1 p.m.
