BOSTON, Mass. - Sophomore John Gillespie (N. Andover, Mass.) came in third in the 1,000-meter run to lead the Colgate men’s track and field team at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games. Gillespie crossed the line in 2:30.98, which is good for 10th place on Colgate’s all-time performance list. As a team, the Raiders finished 13th with 13 points.
Sophomore Geoffrey Bean (Oneonta, N.Y.) finished sixth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.65. Sophomore Don Boyajian (Clifton Park, N.Y.) earned a point for the Raiders with his eighth-place finish in the 500-meter dash, turning in a time of 1:06.76. Colgate’s 4x400-meter relay of Gillespie and freshmen Andy Holway (Tallahassee, Fla.), Osato Ukponmwan (Poundridge, N.Y.) and Terrance Dilworth (Bronx, N.Y.) finished sixth in a time of 3:23.97.
Across town at the Boston University Invitational, sophomore Scott DeRoo (Newtown, Conn.) came in 15th in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:59.94. Junior Sean Curran (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) placed 22nd in the event, recording a time of 9:18.90. In the 5,000-meter run, sophomore Michael Hanlon (Ann Arbor, Mich.) placed 16th with a time of 14:41.19. Senior Xavier de Boissezon (Geneva, Switzerland) competed for the first time this season, and finished 33rd in the 5K, crossing the line in 15:30.99.
Colgate hosts the Class of ’32 Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 5, at 11:00 a.m., in Sanford Field House.
