Five Colgate Players Named To All-League Football Team

Graham, Long and Branch earn first team honors; Nepa and Bean receive second team selection.

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Five Colgate football players have been named to the 2004 Patriot League all-league team in voting by the seven head coaches.

 

Earning first team honors were senior wide receiver Luke Graham, senior wide receiver DeWayne Long and senior running back Jamaal Branch. Junior linebacker Jared Nepa and sophomore strong safety Geoff Bean were selected second team all-league.

 

Graham was Colgate’s leading receiver this season with 70 catches for 933 yards and six touchdowns. He finished his career as the school’s all-time leading receiver with 221 catches for 3,381 yards and 21 touchdowns.

 

Long finished behind Graham in the receiving statistics with 55 receptions for 737 yards and a team-high eight touchdowns.

 

Branch was the leading rusher in the Patriot League for the second straight season averaging 108.2 yards per game. He finished his career as the school’s second all-time leading rusher with 4,108 yards and 48 touchdowns.

 

Nepa was Colgate’s leading tackler with 87 including three quarterback sacks, 10 tackles for losses, three interceptions, two fumble recoveries and one fumble caused, while Bean was second in tackles with 80. Bean led the Raiders in interceptions with six, the most by a Colgate player since the 1987 season.
