Volleyball Loses Hard Fought Match to Army

Allie Nichols recorded a career high 20 kills in the match

HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Colgate volleyball team dropped a hard fought Patriot League match to Army on Saturday night.  Game scores were 30-22, 17-30, 26-30, and 29-31.

Sophomore Allie Nichols (Sacramento, Calif.) provided the firepower for the Raiders putting down a career high 20 kills and recording a .333 hitting average in the match.  Sophomore setter Alana Elsner (Wheaton, Ill.) recorded 51 assists and 11 digs on the night.

Senior Claire Putzeys (Newtonville, Mass.) notched four block assists to move her into eighth place on Colgate's career block assists board with 142.

Outside hitter Caity Whiteaker (Venice, Fla.) put down 16 kills and recorded 11 digs while sophomore Meghaan Walsh (Walnut Creek, Calif.) dug a career high fifteen balls in the loss.  Libero Natalie Rawson recorded a match high 22 digs.

The Black Knights were paced by Rachel Travis with 14 kills and a .393 hitting percentage to go with seven block assists.  Setter Abby Casciato was credited with 33 assists while Abigail Stampfler led the defensive charge with 18 digs.

Colgate falls to 4-12 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.  The Raiders take to the court again on Wednesday night as they face Lafayette in their third Patriot League match at 7 p.m. on Cotterell Court.
