Men's Basketball Presents 2020-21 Team Awards

David Maynard performed at a high level on and off the court, compiling a 3.67 cumulative GPA as a Spanish and Molecular Biology double major. Maynard appeared in 16 games and averaged 2.3 points per game. The Herriman, Utah native graduates with a career 41.7 3-point field goal percentage. 

Assistant Coach Dave Klatsky on David Maynard:  

“David represents what Colgate is all about and that is the opportunity to perform at an elite level both in the classroom and on the court.  A captain and invaluable part of the program he also carried a cumulative gpa of 3.67 while double majoring in Molecular Biology and Spanish. There’s no doubt his presence will be missed all around campus, but there’s also no doubt he’ll bring that presence and success to wherever he ends up in future years."

Ryan Moffatt made major strides during his sophomore campaign. He started every game in 2020-21 after seeing action in 17 games as a freshman. He averaged 5.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game, while playing a pivotal role on the defensive end and finishing third on the team in steals (21). 

Assistant Coach Pat Moore on Ryan Moffatt: 

“Moffat was easily the biggest surprise on our team this year. With players ahead of him his freshman year he didn’t get the chance to play in many games and show what he can do. With more opportunity this year he took the starting spot and ran with it. He makes all of the ‘winning plays’ we as a staff love. His defense and timely shooting were so important in the Patriot League championship game. He is an extremely hard worker and will do whatever it is the team needs him to. With his work ethic and selflessness it’s easy to see why he was chosen as our most improved player!”

Zach Light and Tucker Richardson show their passion and commitment to the program with a team-first mentality. The two rising seniors have played key roles in bringing two Patriot League regular season and tournament titles behind the program’s first two 20-win seasons in 2019-20 and 2020-21. 

Director of Operations Pat Stasiak on Zach Light and Tucker Richardson: 

“Zach and Tucker represent Colgate University and our program to the fullest. The enthusiasm they attack each and every day with is contagious throughout our whole program. Since the moment they arrived on campus they have embodied everything it means to compete in a Colgate uniform!”

Jordan Burns has etched his name in the Colgate record books as the only player in program history to rank in the top 10 in career scoring (1,666), assists (503), and steals (145). He’s the new all-time assists leader and garnered Patriot League Player of the Year honors after averaging 16.8 points per game.

“It’s well documented that Jordan had a college career for the ages. What he accomplished individually is remarkable. To have done so at the same time that the team kept rising to new heights is something I know Jordan takes great pride in. To me, it’s fitting that the last award he gets as part of his Colgate career is this one, chosen by his teammates as the 2020-2021 Colgate Men's Basketball Bob Duffy-Tucker Neale Most Valuable Player.”
