Mari Faines came to Colgate from Walter Payton College Prep in Chicago, where she letter all four years for the Grizzlies and was a four time city champion. 

Played in the Chicago Public School Red North Division and earned Chicago Public Schools All-City honors each of her four seasons. She finished her career with over 1500 kills, 350 blocks and 110 digs. Faines had 327 kills, 81 blocks, 13 aces and 64 digs in her senior season. She was named Chicago All-Area three times and in 2010, was tabbed a Illinois HS Girls Volleyball All-Star. In addition, she was selected to the AVCA 2010-11 Under Armour Girls Volleyball All-American Watch List and picked as an all-state performer as a senior. Faines was a Chicago Tribune All-State Team honoree in 2010 and as a sophomore was named to the Soph 79: The Best High School Sophomores in the Country.
