Lalli and Corp Capture Third-Team All-American Honors

It is the first time two Colgate players have earned third-team All-American recognition in a season.

Matt Lalli earned third-team midfield honors for the Raiders.
HAMILTON, N.Y. (5/28/08)—Colgate University senior Matt Lalli (Princeton Junction, N.J.) and junior Brandon Corp (Chittenango, N.Y.) both recently earned All-American honors from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association. Lalli and Corp both were named to the third team.

Colgate is the lone Patriot League team to have two players represented on the All-America teams, while it is the first time any Colgate player has earned third-team honors since 1928. Army was the lone other league foe to earn a spot on the third team. It also marks the first time in program history.

A three-time all-Patriot League honoree, Lalli will go down as one of the top midfielders in Colgate lacrosse history. This is his first All-American award after a stellar career. Lalli is a two-time all-Patriot League first-team honoree and currently holds the career record for assists with 95. His 89 goals is eighth all-time in Colgate history, while his 184 points ties Bob Woodruff for second all-time. Lalli’s 27 assists this season ties for fourth in Raider single-season history. He played a crucial role in the Raiders’ run to their first Patriot League title, tying the league’s record for assists in a tournament with seven, including four in the championship game. The Princeton Junction native closed out his career ranked seventh in Patriot League history in both points and assists. Lalli broke the Colgate career assists record with a stellar three-goal and four-assist performance in the Raiders’ monumental win over then No. 2 Syracuse.

Corp captures All-American recognition for the second consecutive season after earning honorable mention accolades in 2007. The two-time Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, Corp had another standout season at attack for the Raiders. He paced the Patriot League with 41 goals and 15 assists for 56 points. His 41 tallies ranks fifth all-time, while his overall 56 points is seventh in Colgate single-season history. He is a three-time all-Patriot League selection, earning first-team recognition each of the past two seasons. Corp has tallied at least one point in 33 consecutive games, dating back to the beginning of the 2007 season. He proved to be instrumental in the Raiders’ run to the Patriot League Championship, registering a Patriot League Tournament record eight goals and 11 points in the two games, including five tallies in the semifinal upset of Navy. For his career he has 92 goals and 39 assists for 131 points. He currently ranks sixth all-time in career goals and is 10th career points.
