Mike Gallihugh (Midlothian, VA) and
tailback Jordan Scott (Hyattsville, MD) represented Colgate at the event.
Gallihugh was selected as the Patriot League preseason Defensive Player of the Year in a vote of the league coaches and sports information directors. After leading the nation in tackling last fall, he has earned several preseason honors including first team All-American selection by Street and Smith’s and Lindy’s Football Magazines and second team All-American by the College Sporting News.
Gallihugh was a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award last year given to the top defensive player of the year in the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly I-AA).
Colgate was selected to finish third in a preseason vote by coaches and sports information directors, while Lafayette was chosen to claim the 2007 title followed by Lehigh. The Leopards grabbed 63 points for first place to edge Lehigh with 62. Colgate managed 52 points followed by Holy Cross (50), Bucknell (31), Fordham (21) and Georgetown (15).
The Raiders open their preseason camp on Sunday, August 5th in preparation of the season opener against Albany on Sept. 1 at Andy Kerr Stadium.
