Bill Geyer was rated by the late Andy Kerr as one of the fastest and most explosive halfbacks in Colgate football history because of his bigplay capability. In 1941 he established an all-time collegiate major college single season record for most yards on kick returns of 966 yards which stood for almost 30 years. He was the starting right halfback for the East squad in the 1942 East-West classic, scoring the only East touchdown. Geyer played complete 60 minute games - offensively and defensively - in all but three games on the 1941 schedule. He later played three seasons with the Chicago Bears and was the starting halfback when they won the World Championship in 1943.
