Sue Marano earned three varsity letters in basketball and lacrosse and two in field hockey from 1978 to 1981. In basketball, she led the Red Raiders in the 1980-81 New York State AIAW Division II Championship while averaging 11.0 points per game and 7.3 rebounds. As a member of the lacrosse team, she led her teammates to the 1981 Eastern AIAW Division II title and fourth place at the AIAW National Championships. Marano scored a school record 85 points, which included a record 65 goals. In field hockey, Marano was a standout defender who helped Colgate place fifth at the 1980 AIAW Division II National Tournament.
