Richard Harlow was known throughout the nation as a master strategist of football. Following graduation from Penn State, he remained at his Alma Mater until 1921 before coming to Colgate. He had four winning seasons at Colgate, 6-3 in 1922, followed by 6-2-1 and 5-4-0 seasons before his team went unbeaten in 1925, defeating Michigan State and Syracuse. Harlow was elected to the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame (in 1954) and as Coach of the Year (in 1936) at Harvard.
