John Reid was a standout baseball player for the Raiders earning three varsity letters in 1967, 1968 and 1969. A three-year starter, he was an all-District All-Star twice and in 1969 was named District II Player of the Year. He was a Tops All-America in 1968 and 1969 and second team Sporting News All-America in 1969. Reid was Eastern Division MVP of the Cape Cod Summer League and selected in the third round of the 1969 baseball draft (54th player overall). He was a Florida State League All-Star in 1969 and Eastern League All-Star in 1972 and 1973. Reid reached the Triple A level of professional baseball at two different positions - shortstop and pitcher. In basketball, Reid won three letters with the Raiders. He finished his career with 971 career points, which was the ninth highest total at that time. He was named one of the top 60 freshmen in the nation in 1965- 66 by Street & Smith Magazine.
