Hank Kowal had an outstanding collegiate career on the golf links. He twice was a medalist at the National Intercollegiate Championship in 1932 and 1933. The former Red Raider captain was a member of the 1933 AllAmerica Intercollegiate Golf team after advancing to the semifinals of the National Intercollegiate Championship in Buffalo, N.Y. Following graduation, Kowal qualified and won matches in six national amateur championships including qualifying for the National Open Championship. In addition, he won two Indiana State Championships and one New York State Seniors title while being a past holder of 16 course records.
