BUFFALO, N.Y. – Colgate men's ice hockey sophomore goaltender
Colton Point (North Bay, Ontario) and Team Canada won the Gold Medal Friday night and were crowned champions at the IIHF World Junior Championships.
Point is the first Colgate men's ice hockey player to win a gold medal at the World Junior Championships since the tournament's inception in 1974.
The Raiders' goaltender saw action in one game at the World Junior Championships, making 20 saves in a 6-0 shutout of

Slovakia in the second game of the tournament. Point served as the backup goaltender for Team Canada behind starter Carter Hart.
Canada defeated Sweden, 3-1, in the championship game to claim the gold medal for the 16
th time and first since the 2014 World Junior Championships.
Canada went 3-0-0-1 in preliminary play and added three more wins for six in the tournament with the only loss coming in a shootout against the United States in an outdoor game.
This season, Point is among the best goaltenders in all of NCAA Ice Hockey as he is fourth with a .938 save percentage and sixth with a 1.90 GAA. He is also second in ECAC Hockey with 470 total saves and eight wins.
